Baffling Boredom: 7 tips to get rid of it

By: Mihir Rao

With the main part of summer coming to an end, everyone has basically done everything they wanted to do in their holidays, and most people (including me) sometimes find themselves a bit bored. So, here are some solutions to that annoying feeling of boredom that everyone gets sometimes:

1 .Changing Your Routine:

This is basically the main point of the solution. Now I’m not talking about large scale changes, but little changes that are big enough to be noticeable. Introducing new things into your routine can really help in improving your mood. This difference from the normal day-to-day schedule can make you happier!

2. Going outside:

I know that I sound like a worried parent when I say this, but believe me: it really helps. It doesn’t matter if you’re playing something or not, going outside and getting a bit of sun can boost your vitamin levels. Doing something downstairs (such as playing a sport) can also help you and keep you engaged. (Just remember to be careful of how much time you spend outside.)

3. Learning a new skill:

Learning a new skill can keep you engaged for quite a long time! This could be learning an instrument, learning a new language or even learning a martial art! Learning a new skill could even help you in many situations, all while keeping you interested and engaged.

4. Reading:

Reading may be widely known as a good de-stresser, but even with the huge hype around it, it is still underrated. Books offer a wide variety of stories to read, from non-fiction and academic books to fantasy, adventure and mystery. Books also boost your vocabulary, which is a great addition.

5 . Learning a new language:

Learning a new language can be an amazing experience! You aren’t just learning the language, you are learning the culture, food and traditions too! While learning a language, you can get a peek at a different life! Learning a language also is great for understanding how different countries work, and how their social system is different from yours.

6 . Having a hobby:

Hobbies are a great way to de-stress and also a way to not be bored. They can be a variety of things: Exercising, Reading, Listening to music, Writing, etc. Another great thing about hobbies is that a lot of them can strengthen your body and your mind!

7. Music:

Music can really help your boredom, and even boost your mood. Music doesn’t need to be only listening, it could also be playing an instrument! Music can actually make you happier, too!

Finally, boredom is something that we all experience from time to time, and it doesn’t always need to be forced away, since boredom only lasts for some time. However if you do change your routine, you might just get bored a little less!
